OUR PLATFORM 2007-2008

As proud citizens of the city of Bridgeport and members of The Republican Party of Bridgeport, we seek to restore the bonds of trust between, “We the People”, of this great city and our elected representatives. At this critical time in the renewal of Bridgeport’s economy, where we have public mistrust and outspoken disappointment in city hall management, WE step forward with a leadership plan - our Platform for 2007-2008.

Our agenda is straightforward, a written commitment with no fine print, and a no-excuses voice in government focused on the following:

Restoring political balance and honor to our city government
Holding city hall accountable for progressive economic progress coupled with fiscal responsibility
Re-instill an individual feeling of great pride through ethical and transparent actions of political leaders

There is no greater time than now, after years of one-party control, to present a new mandate that will transform our city government and the way it works. With your vote of support, such an historic change would mean the end of a majority allegiance which has been:

Too unethically permissive,

Too unaccountable in its management oversight,

Too misdirected – lacking of moral leadership,

Too embarrassing - unprofessional, and

Too easy with spending tax money they don’t have.

We can have a city government that respects the values, shares the vision and determination of us all, as we look forward to prospering in the years ahead.

The platform of The Republican Party and Town Committee of Bridgeport represents principled positions relevant to issues facing our city, our city government, and “We” - the citizens. State issues are the responsibility of the Connecticut Republican Party and National issues are the responsibility of the Republican National Committee. The Republican Party and Town Committee of Bridgeport will take positions for State and National issues on a case-by-case basis. This platform may be amended at any time in accordance with the official By-Laws of The Republican Party and Town Committee of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
